Rabbit Reproductive System
A male's reproductive system in a rabbit doesn't differ too much from any other mammals. The paired testes produce sperm and store it until it is released into the epididymis where it travels for 4-7 days until it reaches the tail of the tube (or cauda region). When a rabbit is "sexually excited", their sperm is transported through the vas deferens to uterus masculinus (and yes, male rabbits have a uterus, but no baby rabbits grow there) and through the penis with 0.5 - 1.5 mL of semen that was created in the accessory sex glands. Like male, the female rabbits reproductive system is also quite similar to other mammals. It has a pair of ovaries, which are each connected to a separate oviduct. The system also has 2 uterus horns (left and right) that a baby rabbit (kit) develops in. Each uterus has one has a cervix which open up into a single vagina. (see figure 2).
